What is AVR ?

A CMOS 8-bit-microcontroller series from Atmel, based on RISC architecture. Most instruction are executed in a single clock cycle. The AVR consists of 32 general purpose working registers, flexible timer/counters with compare modes, internal and external interrupts and serial UART and programmable Watchdog Timer and power saving modes. The on-chip In-System Programmable Flash allows the program memory to be reprogrammed in-system through a SPI serial interface. Selected AVR can be self-programmed through a boot-loader.
