Repaying Old Debts

Guessing that the final attack would come at sundown, the Duke of Tamar's favorite time to strike, the might-have-been Archon watched grimly as the red sun touched the horizon. At that moment, the sounds of a planetary cutter coming in for a landing broke the desert stillness. It was painted with the colors of the Terran Hegemony. Once down between the two armies, the cutter's door opened and a diplomatic mediator stepped out.

Declaring a temporary cease-fire, the mediator then requested that the leaders of both sides meet in his ship. Welcoming the chance to postpone fate for a few hours, Robert Steiner went gladly. Though unhappy at the delay to their plans, the dukes and Margaret Olsen approached the ship.

After a whole night of sometimes violent negotiations, they had not been able to agree on terms. At daylight, the enemy leaders returned to their respective positions. Once the mediator's ship had gone, they would resume their final battle.

As he lifted his eyes to watch the ship lift away, Robert Steiner also glimpsed streaks in the sky above the enemy forces. As the dukes launched their attack, Robert saw that the vague glowing lines had now become more clear-cut as objects burning their way through the atmosphere. On a hunch, he ordered his troops to open fire early at the slowly advancing attackers to gain as much time as possible.

Robert Steiner knew that as long as they were free, Margaret Olsen and her allies, the Dukes of Skye and Tamar would plot against him and make ruling the Commonwealth impossible. Determined to set an end to the civil war, he stroke at them in Skye, just to see his enemies flee at the last minute. In Tamar he expected another outcome though.

GAME SETUP

Any Lyran player may engage another opponent from any other house, which shall be proxy to the rebel forces. Once their armies are set as detailed below, the non-LC player should attack Tamar with the appropriate operation.

Attacker
The attackers are the rebel forces of Margaret Olsen, and consiste of at least a mech lance and an armored lance of at least 7500 Bv total value. The attacker also receives extra units which deploy right away.

Defender
The defenders are the forces of Robert Steiner, led by himself. They consist of at least one mech lance and one armor lance, with at least 8K Bv total. They may have up to 15% more BV than the attacker. The defending player receives extra forces automatically for the operation, those should be configured on the megamek looby to Deploy Before Round 10.

Special Rules

Defender must survive until reinforcements arrive for the final attack. These include the Duke of Fatima inside his Griffin. In team battles, players should devide the minimal amount of units among themselves. For example, players may agree to one being the Mech Lance, the other the Vehicle lance.
