iWapper FAQ
Here is a list of frequently
asked questions and the answers to them:
Q: Does iWapper support RSS feeds?
A: iWapper
2.0 does support RSS feeds. Enter the URL of the RSS feed
you wish to add in the iBrowser section of iWapper (just
as you would do with any regular HTML website) and click
«Save» to add it to your list of WAP items.
Q: How come some
phones do not display my WAP pages wile other do?
A: Some
phones come with buggy WAP browsers that do not support all WAP pages nor all
available characters in WAP/WML format. iWapper was written to work well most
of today's phones, but – since it relys on WAP/WML 1.1 standards – it
should also be able to be viewed on most older WAP enabled phones out there.
If you encounter a problem, please try eliminating special characters in your
WAP pages. Also, try emptying the WAP cache in your cell phone to reload the
modified WAP page correctly. Some very popular phones have difficulties displaying
the dollar sign ($) – disable the function «show $ sign» in the settings to
replace dollar signs wih standard «S» characters.
Q: What WAP standard
does iWapper use?
A: iWapper
2.0 RSS uses WAP/WML 1.1 standard to get compatibility with most
cell phones.
Q: When I modify
a WAP page in iWapper, it does not change on my phone. What's up?
A: Most
cell phones sport a small cache memory for WAP pages to reduce network traffic
whenever possible. In order to reload your page neatly, please try using the
«Reload» feature if available on your phone or try clearing the WAP cache in
your phone and reopen your WAP page.
Q:
What happens when I put a real-world WWW-link on a WAP page?
A: You
can of course put «real-world» WWW links on your WAP pages.
On most phones, however, trying to open them will result in an error.
But there are indeed some new phones coming up that support HTML browsing,
so maybe some users will be able to open that WWW link without any
problems!
Q: Does the
«Phone Call» link make an immediate call when clicked?
A: That
depends on what cell phone you use. Most phones will ask you, whether
you really want to make that suggested call or whether you preferred
to send an SMS or MMS message. At any rate, including phone call links is a
great feature for your customers or friends, since they don't have
to write down your phone number – they can just click the link and
talk to you!
Q: What file
types can be linked to WAP documents?
A: You
can link virtually any file type and about any file size to WAP documents.
Try setting up your own WAP download pages for images, music, ringtones,
phone themes, screensavers, games, videos – you name it!
