SWAMPDOGS

Swampdogs are the song-writing team of Alan Millen and Iain Duncan, who formed their musical partnership in 2004 after being introduced by a mutual acquaintance. As their name suggests, the Swampdogs are committed to the tradition of intensely passionate music that emerged from the southern U.S.
The outcome is a heady stew that blends rock-a-billy with rock 'n' roll, country & western and blues. The Swamp Dogs are committed to making roadhouse music for the 21st century.
Swampdogs’ collective biography contains as many twists and turns as a backwoods road with no particular place to go.
ALAN MILLEN
Alan was born in the northeast of England, grew up in western Canada and has lived in Switzerland since 1987, with a two-year stint in Belgium thrown in for good measure. He began writing songs while still in high school in the late 1960's and has been hooked ever since. Several decades and many songs
later, he is delighted to have hooked up with Iain, whose talents and abilities complement his own ideally.
As a songwriter, Alan's repertoire is truly eclectic: rock, pop, blues, folk and country all have their place, as do songs for children, Christmas songs, and even songs about baseball, ice hockey and "the beautiful game".
This latter interest was the genesis for The First Eleven, a "football opera" by, for and about fans of Newcastle United, which he created together with fellow fan Tim Readman

This unique CD was released at the end of 2003.
A CD of children's songs featuring the wonderful voice of Vancouver-based children's entertainer Clare de Lune, a two-time Juno Award nominee, is scheduled for release in the first half of 2006. For more information on Clare

More recently Alan has completed and produced a tribute to The Beatles called... “You Gotta Love The Beatles”. This has been recorded by the Beatlemaniacs and can be downloaded free from our “Listen Here” page.

 IAIN DUNCAN
Iain grew up in the area around Portsmouth on the southern coast of England. He started playing guitar at age 14, inspired by Allen Collins, Ed King and Gary Rossington of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Dickie Betts of The Allman Brothers Band, Hughie Thomasson of The Outlaws. Other notable influences included the likes of George Thorogood, the Steve Gibbons Band, the Atlanta Rhythm Section, Wishbone Ash etc.
Iain was a founder-member of a Portsmouth-based band White Lightning and gigged for 5 years, then joined Marjolene for a further year.
Then a strange thing happened. He put down the guitar in 1981 and took an extended hiatus from the instrument, later picking up the bagpipes instead.
He played in the first Marie Curie Edinburgh March in 1995 in what was then the largest pipe band in the world (around 3,000 pipers) before getting back into guitar groove in the late 1990's.
After moving to Switzerland in 2001, Iain became the driving force behind Whisky, Joints and Roesti, before working on an album with local musician Andy Stiep, that is in the making.
Today Iain plays guitar, bass, a bit of piano, wind synthesizer, scottish bagpipes, concert whistle and sansula.
